It is the future plan for ILI9320 / 5 TFT display?

Postby padik » Fri Jun 21, 2013 6:20 pm

Hi david,

I have a question that in the near future is planned shield and library for TFT display with a controller ILI9320/5. For Amicus compiler this module and shield already exists. Currently, the use of touch screens with MCU absolutely standard matter.

PS.

terms of ili9320 can be said to operate even after the serial line to save the pins needed to connect with. The price for easier wiring of course the speed of communication, but in many applications it is not a big problem.
Library for serial communication with ili9320, but so far no compiler has FIREWING WOULD BE THE FIRST AND PROBADLY THE ONLY ONE. :!:

thank you

I couldn't find this shield on their website - could you provide a link?

Hi David,

here is the link

http://www.myamicus.co.uk/content.php?3 ... LCD-Shield

If it goes in Amicus could be something in Firewing?

Eventually, as I wrote above, a unique serial driver version that displays ?

Thank you

There are quite a few graphic displays out there - this one looked like good value

and uses the standard Arduino footprint. Maybe we will look at something like that in the future...

Hi David,

exactly. Displays the ILI9320 are many and have very good price / performance ratio.

The problem is, however, that there Firewing library to support these displays.

If you managed to create the library or even a library that would allow comparison with other compilerum native serial communication would become Firewing the only compiler that this could be.

David thats the Display ive just got from iTeadStudio http://imall.iteadstudio.com/development-platform/arduino/shields/im120417012.html I was going to look at connecting it to the Firewing when I get some time..

That would be really cool, let me know if I can help out. I ported over the Swordfish GLCD code which allows you to add different drivers. If you are familiar with the Swordfish code it may help you. Let me know if you need a copy...

Hi David,

with TFT LCD module Model: IM120417012 I'm not sure that it is completely compatible with ILI9320/25 the chip is as described: S6D112.

The development library would be better to keep a stray and widespread standard ie ILI9320/25. Moreover, the cost of that module is not exactly low.

In addition ILI9320/25 chip also allows serial communication and thus a smaller number of MCU pins used.

Look for example at these displays and their prices:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Freeship ... 14575.html 14.6 USD and 2.8"

or

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2-4-inch ... 22532.html 12.99 USD and 2.4"

or But another, but also much used driver IC

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/3-2-TFT- ... 09595.html 13.59 USD and 3.2" !!!!!

Before proceeding with the development of libraries and SHIELD is very necessary to consider which displays will support. Or create a universal library for TFT displays, which will go in the future easily extended to other types of displays.

Each display module offered at least differ in the arrangement of pins of the module. The only thing is the drivers are the same chips here but I suggest to really hold standard and in principle the cheap types such as ILI9320/25 or SSD1289.

Bitfogav has offered to take a look at generating a library for his shield, which is fantastic news. It's not what I do with Firewing that will guarantee its future but what users like bitfogav do with Firewing that will ensure it has a future. I'll will be glad to help him 100% in his endeavors. I would be more than happy to support you if you wish to look at putting together an alternative GLCD library based around your chosen chipset...

Hi David and Bitfogav,

of course !!

However, it is necessary to develop a library open to the possibility as simply adding support for additional TFT display.

First of all you need to write a driver for display and it was said to make its porting to GLCD library.

Everything should be written in modular form with respect to future add additional drivers for TFT displays.

Furthermore, I consider the proposed development environments like VYSUAL TFT from MIKROE that would be integrated into Firewing. It could thus arise compiler for PI24 like VisualBasic or something like Basic4ppc (Basic compiler for PocketPC).

PS. are considering adding support for old displays NOKIA6100 of Swordfish
They're pretty outdated, but the library which is ready and its integration into Firewing should not be problematic?
