need help!

OK so I'm obviously being a bit dense,

I've receive the firewing board, and I thought id try using the standard config with an example program.

I've set the target board to r2

selected the firewing loader.

but when I try to compile and load, I compiles ok but I get an error message.
"an error has occurred trying to program the hex file into the target device."

"user program will overwrite bootloader"

whats going on ?

I'm assuming R2 with PIC32 installed? If so, ensure Firewing 32 and Firewing R2 are selected, as shown below. Then rebuild and program.

I didn't realise you had fitted a pic 32 to the board!! I almost ordered one too.

Yes, you put pic32 on your order. You can use a pic24, but you will need the r2 firmware installed...

no its not a problem, it's the pic32 that I'm interested in but I just didn't expect such a good service:)

a few comments

an led flash prog would be good. as I did confuse myself a little with port numbers being out by 1 compared to the shield.

the proguart example generates garbage as the baud rate is set to 19200 but the usb uart is 38400.

and progLCDPlus didn't compile.

I've just checked the install and it's 38400

Again, just downloaded and run the install - progLCDPlus.bas compiles fine

I suspect you may have old sample files. I assume you are using win7? If so, I would

• Close Firewing
• make sure you delete all files in "c:\users\<name>\my documents\firewing\samples"
• Restart Firewing

this will force the sample files to be updated - samples files are not automatically updated each time you install Firewing, for hopefully obvious reasons. Performing the above after an install will ensure the latest files are copied over.

ok that makes sence. I'd originally installed firewing ages ago. then updated it yesterday when I realised that it had the pic32
