After you do this do you have to boot into some special mode or can you disable it, install the driver, and then put things back to "normal"?
Do you have to leave signing disabled?

As I understand it when you reboot, the PC will revert to only allowing signed driver installation but the previously installed unsigned driver will remain enabled.

Yes johngb is correct, the Windows system will revert back after a restart.
