Hi David,

Wow, my first Christmas present!!

I have just unearthed my Uno board, and hope to try it out this afternoon under MPLab.

However, I note that to view the attachments on the information pages require passwords. Where can this be obtained?

Thanks again David

There is no debugging support so you would be better running from the IDE, keep it simple for now.

I'm not sure what you mean - which attachments are you referring to?

David,
When I first went to the new site downloads something went screwy, I think. I closed everything and reopened and the problem seems to be resolved.

Thanks for the heads up on debugging, I will start with the ide.

If you have been using chipkit in MPLAB, you will probably need to re-program your chipkit loader firmware back into the UNO. The Firewing loader can interface directly to the chipkit loader (avrdude) so you can do everything from the IDE:

http://www.firewing.info/pmwiki.php?n=Firewing.Firewing32Beta

Let me know how it goes...

Thanks, yes, I did overwrite the original loader.

You probably already know, but you can download the chipkit loader firmware from here:

http://www.digilentinc.com/Products/Detail.cfm?NavPath=2,892,893&Prod=CHIPKIT-UNO32

with an installation guide. I used "arduino-bootloader.X.Uno32_8-19-11.zip" for testing with Firewing.

I have only ever used Uno, Pinguino and Max32 boards from within MPLAB and never used MPIDE, but I think I am beginning to understand that by using Firewing language within the MPIDE environment, with the specified bootloader, I can compile and load directly to the development board(s?) noted above.

Am I correct?
Thanks

Not quite. You don't use MPIDE. You use the Firewing IDE. For example, set the compiler for "Firewing 16" and board to "Firewing R1" then press F9:

You have now built your program using the 16 bit compiler, targeted for a Firewing R1 board. Pressing F11 will program the *.hex file into your board. Now change your compiler to "Firewing 32" and your board to "chipKit UNO". Press F9 again:

You have now re-built your program using the 32 bit compiler, targeted for a chipKIT Uno board. Just press F11 to program!
